The couple had “raised” an online girl character while neglecting their own prematurely born daughter, feeding her just once a day in between 12-hour stretches at a neighbourhood Internet cafe, Yonhap news agency said.

It quoted police as saying they had become obsessed with raising a virtual girl character called “Anima” in the popular role-playing game “Prius Online”.

“The couple seemed to have lost their will to live a normal life because they didn’t have jobs and gave birth to a premature baby,” Chung Jin-Won, a police officer, told Yonhap.

“They indulged themselves in the online game of raising a virtual character so as to escape from reality, which led to the death of their real baby.”

The motor yacht is, as the name suggests, 58 metres long and 38 metres wide, providing a total guest surface area of 3,400sq metres, and weighs in at 2,400 tonnes.

It boasts a maximum speed of 14 knots, and a price tag, when built, of $160 million. Upon completion the yacht will be capable of catering for up to 12 guests, enjoying 280sq metres of space each – perfect for an intimate getaway.

Its dozen passengers, attended by a crew of 20, will be able to congregate across three floors, consisting of the “master space”, “guest space” and “common space”.

The 200sq metre master area covers the entire third floor, while the guest space, incorporating five bedrooms, spans the second tier.

Antarctic Glacier Has Five-story Blood-red Waterfall of Primordial Ooze

There is a five-story, blood-red waterfall pouring slowly from the Taylor Glacier in Antarctica’s McMurdo Dry Valley. Its back story, at Atlas Obscura, is simply remarkable:

Roughly 2 million years ago, the Taylor Glacier sealed beneath it a small body of water which contained an ancient community of microbes. Trapped below a thick layer of ice, they have remained there ever since, isolated inside a natural time capsule. Evolving independently of the rest of the living world, these microbes exist without heat, light, or oxygen, and are essentially the definition of “primordial ooze.” The trapped lake has very high salinity and is rich in iron, which gives the waterfall its red color. A fissure in the glacier allows the subglacial lake to flow out, forming the falls without contaminating the ecosystem within.
