Cincinnati first to ban "Cops"

Cincinnati is the first city in the 17-year history of the “Cops” television program to cancel taping of police officers after it began, the show’s creator says, and he calls City Council hypocritical for objecting to a video crew’s presence.

Earlier this week, Cincinnati Vice Mayor Alicia Reece and some City Council members complained that allowing “Cops” to tape here would spotlight Cincinnati’s crime problems — including a record-breaking homicide rate — at a time when the city is trying to recover from the 2001 riots and attract more businesses and conventions.
