So, I’ve finally succumbed to and joined Twitter. Mostly to play with it and see if its such a big deal. There’s been SO MUCH hype about it that I suspect in 6 months it’ll be dead. Did I mention it took me two days to join? The server kept dying mid-way thru the registration process. Clearly, they’ve still got some scaling issues.. But, it seems to be functional again (ftm)

Nonetheless I can see some benefits to it. Like bloggin’, it shouldn’t matter if you have readers or not. I blog mostly for myself – and I’ll Twitter for the same reasons. All this talk of Lifebloggin’ at the moment made me realise what a cool way to capture an emotional snapshot Twitter is. A snapshot of the your state vector even, to use the term Doctorow and Stross have been using when talkin’ about uploading minds and stuff.

I think it’d be cool to combine Twitter history with other ‘snapshot’ takers – like Last.FM for music, and Flickr etc. As these things get better you can basically search your past. Which is pretty much what lifeblogs are about I think.
