Went to the Anime Special at ACMI last night. All very last minute.. was originally gonna see V for Vendetta.. seeing that tonight instead. Anyway, after watching the first ep of Gantz (which was fine, but hardly rocked my world).. And listening to an excellent lecture by Philip Brophy (excellent discussion of cultural difference b/n East’n’West, some Canadian sledging, and a pertinent reminder that anime is directed purely at a japanese audience).. And afterwards, nearly buying his book, I spied the following precious thing on the MadMan stand:
And instead picked up that, and Innocence for good measure. Mmm, GITS goodness. Don’t think reading the book will get me past the level I’m stuck at on the PSP game, but it’ll be a nice distraction!
OMG – had forgotten there’s a GITS game for the PS2.. may have to commence negotiations with the stakeholders to buy one..
Am also thinking my next item of flair might be the this GITS logo
would go nicely on the shoulder I think..
